This week we will be focusing on dancing with different rhythms and being aware of your natural tendency or rhythm you walk with and how to change your musicality.
First on basic pivots like ochos and then for leaders how to change the dynamics and for follower how to ‘surrender’ the non-standing or free leg and not to anticipate and be ready to follow any speed and or dynamics. Building on we will work on going off axis Volcada and an on axis Voleo and discuss the different rhythms of these tango dance concepts.
This Saturday 31st March, the programme is as follows:
1 – 1.45pm Tango Basics
We will start with a variety of exercises to feel and understand how to walk and pivot in different rhythms and speed. Working on how to release the non-standing leg, and how pivot with the free leg. How to do backwards ochos in different rhythms and speeds.
1.45 – 2.30pm Class on dancing different rhythms in on axis and off axis moves
Todays improvers class will move from the simple to the sophisticated, and will be suitable for more advanced dancers. This class is about you and your partner dancing Tango together. Making it up for yourselves, rather than just trying to imitate others. The emphasis will be on using different rhythms and compare for example the rhythms in a volcada with a boleo. Looking in more depth how going off axis in the volcada impacts the rhythm and speed of dancing and how a certain rhythm is needed to perform a boleo/ voleo.
2.30- 5pm Practica / Milonga
The classes will suit a wide range of abilities including beginners and experienced dancers. Please come on time to take full advantage of this opportunity. Doors open at 12.45pm
