Saturday 25 June we are welcoming Uruguayan Tango Dancers Natasha Lewinger & Haris Mihail as our guest teachers at our class and milonga.
Natasha and Haris are internationally recognised teachers and dancers known for their connection, elegance, musicality, dynamics, and quality. They both love social dancing, especially the milonguero style.
In their own words: “The most important thing in tango for us is the connection. We are crazy about technique but only as a medium to improve the connection and feelings that will allow us to adapt to everybody and every style. We believe in dancing as one body with four legs, the centaur. Communication between us is the key for our tango. Listening to the leader is as important as listening to the follower.” They started dancing 17 and 16 years ago, and they met in the beginning of 2016. Natasha has been working in the UK since 2012 and with Haris since 2017.
Class on pivots and volcadas
Saturday 25 June from 1 to 3pm Natasha and Haris will be teaching a workshop on the ability to recognise and to hold one’s weight, axis, and pivoting points, to a greater or lesser extent on both feet. This can be for either the leader or follower or both. The class will lead from basic technique to experiencing different pivots to playing with off axis movements such as Volcadas. Workshop is suitable for beginners as well as advanced dancers.
From 3 to 5pm our own homegrown DJ Andy Werner will play Tango Tunes for us in tandas with cortinas.
