Learn how to tango in a friendly and laidback afternoon! only 10 min walk from Canary Wharf, join now!
Saturday the 1st of February our focus is on the embrace, we will go over tango ideas and principles that are familiar, such as ochos and other turns to discuss the variations in the hold and how to adapt them.
For anyone learning and enjoying tango, if you would like to improve your connection come this Saturday to learn to perfect the tango embrace and for more advanced dancers to learn which embrace to use when and how to be flexible.
Class on the tango embrace
First, we will go over what a technical good embrace is, what its purpose is in a still kind of position or in small movements like the balanceo. Then we will go over the different variations that are there and how to move in between one hold and the other. There are recommended embraces for particular movements as they will allow more or less movement. As Christine Dennison describes in her book “The meaning of tango. The Story of the Argentinian Dance”:
The hold is the basis of Tango. Without the hold, Tango as we know it would not exist.
Private tuition available
There are slots of an hour before or after this Saturday event for private tuition suitable for couples. If you are interested in booking a private class please ring Tony Lane on 02075383852.
