This week we will look at Rebotes and ochos corrals and how we can use them Musically in our Tango, Milonga and Vals. Like last week’s session on walking turns we will look at technical details and improve your confidence and understanding enabling you to dance with ease and grace.
BACK TO WORK, and
BACK TO TANGO
Last week we had a very good class on Walking Turns. The idea is simple, like Argentine Tango itself; but the execution is actually a little more complicated. So, it is a good idea to become totally comfortable with doing it, so that our bodies, minds and our ‘dancing persona’ are fully involved.
Class on rebotes or rebounds
This Saturday we continue refining some straightforward dance movements that are directly applicable in Argentine Tango. Starting with a simple ‘to and fro’ rocking movement, what can we do with that to emphasise a point. We might turn slightly or add dissociation to lead a quick tango cross. We might lead dummy steps to the side, or backwards or forwards. We see that we are actually leading and following with our bodies, and our legs are merely appendages hanging from our bodies. Our legs move because our movement and dance is centred in our body. Then, having realised some possible movements, we fit them to the music. If we have time left we will teach echo cortadas with rebotes.
Private tuition available
There are slots of an hour before or after this Saturday event for private tuition suitable for couples. If you are interested in booking a private class please ring Tony Lane on 02075383852.
