This Saturday 22 November it is business as usual. With a joint warm up and splitting after roughly half an hour into two groups; beginners with Tony and imposers with Anita and Stuart.
Due last time’s success we will split the group in half again after a joint warmup going briefly over technique and rhythmical walking. Then for beginners it is simple combinations; exploring what you can do after a backwards ocho, e.g. parada. For improvers it is sacadas again however this time in the backwards step in the giro, if successful we will move onto sacada in the sidestep!
!Be aware! There are engineering works on the DLR the only line that is working is from Bank to Lewisham and v.v. Please check your journey before you set off.
Class on backward ochos and sacadas for improvers
Beginners will learn ocho backwards into variations of simple connecting moves. Exploring all the possibilies after the backwards ocho, leading the backwards ocho and then what what can go on from here? There is a large number of possibilities, e.g. Parada, forward ocho, sandwich, passada, barrida or gancho. How can you vary and add to it, in how you are dancing these moves? Improvisation variations on what happens after the backwards ocho.
Look at the engineering, the nuts and bolts of various tango movements so you can apply them in the way you want, to move rhythmically to the music played or express the mood you are in. so not looking at just how to execute them but also how to dance them to the music, apply them in your improvisation.
Improvers giros starting with backwards ocho and saccadas in the backward and forwards step and when you are ready able to change direction and do saccadas in the side step. where the leader has to turn more. Or do giro from Americana and sacadas. Enough to explore and to get to grips with!
