This event is an exciting opportunity for those new to tango or those experienced wanting to introduce their friends to Argentine Tango. The programme for the afternoon is as follows; Start at 1pm with warm up dances interspersed with demos by Anita, Tony and Kiran. Followed by a Taster class or introduction to Tango Essentials from 1.30-2.30pm and finishing the afternoon with a milonga from 2.30-5pm where you can dance freely and practice the skills you have learned during the class with partners of your choice.
About Tango E14
Tango E14 is one of the longest running milongas in London. Tony Lane has started Tango E14 around 18 years ago and dancing Argentine Tango for arguably much longer than that. Anita van de Watering has joined Tango E14, 11 years ago to complement Tony’s strong experience and knowledge on social dancing and tango culture with her knowledge and experience on dance technique, physiology and teaching skills as a qualified dance teacher. As Tony has stepped back due to health reasons, the lovely Kiran Bains has taken over the baton and assists Anita now in the teaching of the classes.
Taster class: Introduction to the essence of Argentine Tango
The introduction to the essence of Argentine Tango. To inform, entertain and invite participation. Anita and Kiran will introduce the three sub styles of tango, namely; tango, vals and milonga. We will talk very briefly about musicality, history, culture and the way of being what it is. Also, we will discuss what is the difference between Argentine Tango and Ballroom Tango. Then we will learnt to walk in time and with a partner in the ronda (line of dance). Suitable for complete beginners as well as those with more experience under their belt. At 1.30-2.30pm.

Getting here
The Crossrail Roof Gardens are above the Crossrail Place, also known as the Elizabeth Line station at Canary Wharf. Canary Wharf is a large modern commercial business estate, now covering many blocks. So, if you arrive at Canary Wharf by any means of transport: E.g. Jubilee Line, DLR, Crossrail, or Bus, then just follow the signs to the Crossrail/ Elizabeth line station. Or Ask fordirections.
The building over the crossrail station is like a large, oversize, three or four storey curved wooden greenhouse. On the upper level there is an enclosed sub-tropical garden (the roofgardens). To find the Performance Space, simply find the ground level entrance to ‘Crossrail/ Elizabeth Line Canary Wharf station’. Then instead of going down to the station, go up by escalator or lift to the Roof Gardens. The ‘Performance Space’ is in the middle, towards the eastern end of the building.
