Happy New Year to all dancers! Let’s get straight back into Argentine Tango again this Saturday, from 1pm. We, Tony and Anita, continue with our mission to bring you many ways to discover, enjoy, develop, understand and grow your Argentine Tango on Saturday afternoons with us.
Tony started to discover Argentine Tango in 1995, and has been learning ever since. Helped by earlier working in Latin America, learning Spanish, appreciating the culture and enjoying the variety of dancing, he has a broad understanding of Argentine Tango. Together with Anita who qualified as a ‘Teacher of Dance’ in 2015, and joined with Tony in Tango E14 about 12 years ago.
Our aim is to give a broad appreciation and realisation of Tango, combined with the technical and physical skills to really dance tango together. And most importantly, to develop a feel for the music and for each other so we can play together in the playground that is Argentine Tango.
One cannot just attend a few classes with any teacher and expect to become instantaneously a great dancer. You have to build up your skills over time. One should listen to Argentine Tango music frequently, and actually go to dances and practicas and classes often; at least once a week, but preferably more often. Then the slow process of acclimatisation of one’s mind, body, muscles and nervous system can occur, and the dancing becomes more natural and part of you.
Class on tango basics (a.o. walking turn, cunita)
This Saturday we will revise some straightforward dance movements that are directly applicable in Argentine Tango. Including having one’s weight on the front of one’s feet, walking in parallel and cross systems, changing from parallel to cross system or from cross to parallel, walking turns with a partner, rocking, changing weight, and knowing where your own weight is, and where the weight of your partner is. Oh yes, and listening to the music so these movements correspond to the music !
Private tuition available
There are slots of an hour before or after this Saturday event for private tuition suitable for couples. If you are interested in booking a private class please ring Tony Lane on 02075383852.
